Is this good or bad? Only thing I know about Byron Allen, besides that he was on “Real People” in the 70’s and had a comedy show or channel, is that he owns this network

From the article:
"WJRT-TV GM Pete Veto will stay with Gray after the close of the sale in a new position to be announced."

If the non-compete executive order follows through, two new ownership groups in the area could make things interesting.

The Ken Frierson regime was short lived, after seeing that Pete Veto is moving with Gray.
Big changes coming indeed.

Staffers at 12 are relieved that Lilly wasn’t the buyer.

Byron Allen has been on a buying spree. He also owns The Weather Channel.

I guess this means David Smith’s best friend/lapdog Armstrong Williams is no longer the largest black owner of local broadcasting stations.

Likely bad, at least for the present sub-channels it has.

I have never seen a Byron Allen station yet.

His subchannel The Grio is on WAQP and after buying the Weather Channel, he turned the Local Now app into a Stirr like or Pluto TV type product.

Safe to say that Circle among others will be moving to 5's subchannel lineup.

So many moving parts to the sale transactions, and it will be an interesting few months ahead.

I’m interested to see what this job to be announced for Pete Veto. Why wouldn’t they just let him go when the sale went through… unless they are going to replace Ken.

Veto already fired Hodak once, so I would imagine if Veto gets the WNEM GM position that Jayne will be looking for another gig.

It’ll be interesting to see how these dominoes fall…

And Armstrong Williams is very happy that Byron Allen bought ABC12 and has another black owner in Flint, and I'm sure Armstrong & Byron are BFFs.

I’m sure that on the political spectrum Byron and Armstrong couldn’t be more different.
