NBC 25’s owner fined by FCC

Post by sinklair » Mon May 04, 2020 3:28 am

The FCC fined NBC 25/conservative commentator Armstrong Williams $100k for failing to negotiate retrans agreements with AT&T/DirecTV in good faith, resulting in the loss of programming to area viewers for 5 months.

Pure greed on AW’s part. In the end, the viewers suffer with higher rates.

Yet this SOB put out videos claiming to be the victim here in the fight with DirecTV. Meanwhile, NBC viewers in the Flint and Tri City market got shafted for 5 months.

Unfortunately 100K is probably pocket change to him

And you know this how ??

AT&T/DirecTV in good faith
And AT&T has clean hands ??
I can't think of any other company that can gouge the consumer like ATT can.

R: what would you call it? Putting profits at the expense of viewers — seems greedy to me.

Never said AT&T had clean hands. Just reporting the findings from the Republican controlled FCC against Williams, a conservative commentator.

Personally, I think all these media conglomerates need to be broken up. They are all too large.

I think Spectrum changes $5/mo just for retrans-fee to customers.

I don't think you can opt out either, unlike sat providers.

You know what OTA TV is just fine.

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

R: I’m not following your logic. “Swamp media, extremely left, liberal”... who are you referring to? Sinclair Broadcasting run by the Smith family with their must-run right leaning “news” stories... or GOP pundit turned local broadcasting owner Armstrong Williams. I know it goes against your talking points, but 25-66 is about as much as a right wing FOX News local alternative as they come.

I don’t say that’s a good thing since local media should be independent from political bias. However, that’s not the Sinclair way.
