Suffer stoke, get fired

Post by sinklair » Tue Apr 28, 2020 7:30 am

Former WEYI morning anchor Kristen Aguirre, who made a H*** jump from anchoring the news in Flint to anchoring the news in Denver... is now making news for all the wrong reasons.

https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2020/ ... ter-stroke

Many of us were pulling for Kristen when she suffered her stroke and was on the path to recovery.

However, another example of how a corporate media conglomerate (this time it’s Tegna) fires staff instead of supporting them. Tegna was more than happy to cover Kristen’s recovery when it gave them good publicity. You’ve gotta love the hypocrisy.

Now if Kristen can’t do the job, maybe move her to an off-camera roll like producer or digital reporting. But to toss her aside because of a stroke is low...

She seems like she has recovered.

Completely classless thing to let her go after suffering a stroke. She sounds fine in that video so how could she not be up to their “standards”?

If she’s not going to get back into the news business, then I’m thinking she needs to consult an employment attorney....

If she was sacked due to her disability, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I thought there was a federal law against firing over severe illness?
