Gray: no furloughs planned

Post by sinklair » Mon Apr 06, 2020 11:37 pm

12’s parent company, Gray, says despite the downturn in advertising revenue that it’s not planning on any furloughs.. Tegna says it is requiring most of its workers to take a week off unpaid before June.

Let’s see which direction Sinclair (25-66) and Meredith (5) go...

Good for Gray to taking a principled stand that recognizes audiences will turn to TV news when there’s calm coverage of a significant story.

What they say, and what they do are two separate things.
Time will tell.

Lovin: Gray says no layoffs or furloughs.

No such guarantee yet from Sinclair.

If they’re going to ask for loyalty from their employees, I think it’s fair to praise companies that are going to bat for workers who are covering this pandemic. Hence why I’m applauding Gray for its stance.

It is possible that Gray has already cut their work force so thin, that it couldn’t possibly
cut any deeper without risking the product.
I know they can barely function at 12 with the staffing level they have now.
Nah, it has to be that they’re a wonderful company. Great PR.

Nope, you can’t seem to get your facts straight, Lovin. And I’ll praise anyone, any company at any time I choose. I don’t need advice from the peanut gallery.

Beer: all stations have cut staffing levels. It’s already affected the product at 5, 12 and 25-66. Still doesn’t stop companies like Tegna for forcing furloughs on their staffs.

A week off without pay is a furlough.

Stink.
Here’s a fact for you.
Instead of giving employees a week off, without pay, a layoff that definitely benefits the companies bottom line. Sinclair is allowing their employees to cash in a week of their vacation (if they wish) in order to help them have more money in their pockets during this time.
Seems like a much better option.

Edited!

Go check your facts. If you’re so well connected any “poor slob” (Beer’s words) at 12 will tell you they’re not being furloughed.

Stink
You’re the one that laid out Gray’s plan not me.
And once again, yes, those are my words..
Hey everybody! I referred to people at 12 as
“poor slobs”. Just wanted you to hear it from me..

You can drop the question mark. “Ouch” should be a declarative statement. It’s called basic grammar.

Lovin: still not letting facts get in the way of trolling. Got it.

Beer: glad to help. I’m here for you, buddy. Thoughts and prayers.
