When I was in Lapeer County this morning, I picked them up and it seemed they were on but broadcasting dead air. It was strong enough to stop Seek on my car radio.

Speaking of Lapeer, 1530 WLCO appears to have been off the air for several weeks. I was in the area a few weeks ago and WCKY was booming in like a local at midday with no sign of WLCO anywhere. As of today, they were still off the air.

Regarding WLCO....

https://publicfiles.fcc.gov/api/service ... 13430.html

This is Exhibit: STATION WLCO CEASED OPERATIONS ON DECEMBER 2, 2019 DUE TO A TRANSMISSION-SYSTEM FAILURE. STATION ENGINEERS ARE STILL DETERMINING WHETHER THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE TRANSMITTER OR SOMETHING IN THE ANTENNA SYSTEM. WHILE THE STATION INVESTIGATES THE PROBLEM WITH THE STATION, IT RESPECTFULLY REQUESTS STA TO KEEP THE STATION SILENT.

It takes them over 6 weeks to determine the cause? I mean, the average CBer can generally discern between a TX and antenna system problem in less than ten minutes. Sounds like somebody doesn't particularly care why it's off or really is that clueless about an AM system.

They tried to unload 1530 years ago but found no takers, ever for only $250,000.

As far as I know, there is just one engineer covering both the Flint and Lansing Townsquare clusters. And he's probably up to his ears in work. That and WLCO is nothing but a computer running in the WFNT studio.

Who is the Townsquare engineer? Do they still have a corporate engineer? The one in CA retired. Theres an AM running on really low power in Rochester, MN also. Don't know if it's fixed yet.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

ONLY 250K? :rollin

Unless the transmitter site is worth somewhere close to that amount, they are out of their collective minds. :lol

1530 WLCO is back on the air. As of today, they were simulcasting US 103.1, which makes me wonder if it's just on temporarily to keep the license active. However, they do seem to be at full power, as they were putting a very strong signal into the Gaylord area at about 4pm this afternoon.

They have been back on the air for several weeks now simulcating 103.1. I've been hearing them around sunset when I am up in the Newaygo area.
