How long will they go with no ratings before they bring Bill Harris back to try to get people to watch this show?

As long as they can. If you can’t make any more money on the revenue side, cut expenses. It costs money to purchase a syndicated show. It costs nothing to have the people you’re currently paying produce more work.

Oh, and the ratings were in the toilet before, during, and after Harris’ “full time” tenure.
Thank you no matter who the anchors are the rating will continue to be bad. Because we don’t cover hard news, break anything first. If you want fluffy news or something that was on 12, 5, or Mlive the day before Nbc25 is the place

Come on, be fair to 25-66’s management. They are only DECADES late on this decision. 5 and 12 have been providing local news at 5pm forever. No one is going to find it since the Assistant GM literally believes you shouldn’t have to promote your own newscasts.

It was a good decision to move Mike Woolfolk and pair him up with Ahmad for this newscast. I guess they will now call it their sole attempt at diversity.

Now let’s see them rerun every story at 5, 6, 10 and 11 since we don’t have any staff. Tune in for this train wreck!

Same dog and pony stories aired at another time slot. Might as well have an infomercial!

I look forward to checking this out! 12's 4, 5 & 6 are weak. Maybe your shop will celebrate by having a weenie roast. Sorry. I forgot, those kinda things aren't cool.

Infomercials are on at 11:00 till 12 Noon on NBC 25!! Too bad that "The Wendy Williams Show" is out on NBC 25. There was also "NBC 25 News At Noon" back in the late 90's but poor ratings!!!

Fun Fact: I was the last person to direct the 5pm news at 25.
I’m always a fan of expanding news coverage. Break a leg!

Herm: I agree that newscast expansion is good. But there’s no plan to be able to support the additional news time with more reporters covering more local news. So you’ll see a lot of repetition and a lot of stories from other Sinclair stations, NBC national, and CNN. We’re stretched so thin that this expansion is only making things worse... which is hard to believe that morale could get any lower... but it is.

ALL locals news waaaay too many hours devoted to it. Why I dont very rarely watch any of it... just has no relevance. Unless you live in Genesee, Saginaw counties, doesnt mean diddly squat as thats nearly all they cover - thats 5,12,25(66). Many years ago when they had just noon, 6:00 etc news they did the same, so with even more hours... its STILL the same!
About once a week I will checkout their roku apps and go through those is about it.

No matter what is going on weather wise, sunny and 70 even then will 9/10 of time lead with that, then say oh we will have the full forecast later. Thats about the time I will turn the channel.
News we can just use the net see the forecast in 30 seconds instead of devoting 1/2 the time towards that!

7&4 had a Noon newscast in the early-mid 90s also. I don't remember if Raycom ever owned NBC25, but I know they removed the noon on 7&4 due to low ratings.

The newscast was only created so they can air more commercials during an election year.

Mr V, you are correct. It is a money grab.

My concern is that we are launching a new newscast without any additional staff — putting a strain on an already understaffed news team. The 5pm news will simply be a rehash of the local news, with tons of weather and national news.

If you can’t create a new newscast with the additional staff needed to do it right, then don’t do it. 25/66 is actually doing more harm to its other newscasts and an already overworked staff.

But bottom line is the only thing that matters to the accountant in charge. Journalism clearly is not.

Dave Bondy isn’t anchoring the new 5pm newscast. So there’s nothing for his agent to renegotiate.

But if I were Ahmad, I’d be asking for the Chief Meteorologist title and a big pay raise!
