Battle of the Christmas set displays

Post by sinklair » Sat Dec 14, 2019 11:14 am

I’m no Grinch and love Christmas as much as the next person... but 25-66 goes overboard each year with its set decorations. If a nicely decorated tree, a couple strand of lights and a poinsettias will do, WEYI feels the needs to buy out the entire greenhouse.

So that makes it OK to go overboard with the Christmas decorations? I didn’t say the station paid out cash for the display. Of course, WEYI is too cheap to do that. My argument was aesthetics. It is waaay too much.

The decorator doesn’t have the final say over how to decorate the TV set. WEYI does. I’m not sure why you’re defending a set that looks like it was decorated by Buddy the Freskin’ Elf.

On 12, where they have the individual reports say 'happy holidays' with a background and their name, in some cases, I can not read the name because it is too small. Make it larger.

One year, we had SO MANY poinsettias around the desk, our morning met commented that it looked like Christmas had thrown up all over the set! We all thought it was hilarious! The company that decorated the studio though... not so much.
Personally, I can’t stand when news studios are decorated for holidays. I think it’s unprofessional and inconsistent. Why decorate for Christmas and not any other holidays? It never made sense to me.

Been that way for years in mid Michigan market. Nothing wrong with it. Most businesses decorate for Christmas. Why not a news set?
