WEYI hubbing weather from WWMT?
Is Erik working part-time at WEYI? The last few times I've tuned in over the past month or so someone from WWMT taped the weather.
Re: WEYI hubbing weather from WWMT?
I’m guessing Erik is on vacation. He’s still listed on 25-66’s website… There also is a meteorologist position that’s been open since July. You’d think the remote News Director would actually try to get the very few positions that remain filled. There’s a MMJ and photog position that remain vacant. So essentially whenever someone takes a day off, there is no one to cover.

Must be a long vacation...
A second meteorologist for what newscast?

Not sure, you should ask the remote News Director at kmovesian@sbgtv.com.
The position is listed as a meteorologist/reporter:
“WEYI/WBSF is looking for a Meteorologist/Reporter to present the weather forecast. In this position, you are responsible for the content of the weathercast on-air and on our digital platforms. You would also report, including stories that are science-based and weather-related.”
Here’s the posting where you can apply:

Online salary estimates say this position should pay $150,000. Just don’t spend the money yet… because, you know… it’s Sinclair.
I’d also rent, not buy a house… because, you know… it’s Sinclair.

Yes, I looked up the posting. Still doesn't answer the question. Unless they're eliminating the "Chief" title (and perhaps Erik is leaving). I heard somewhere else a while back that some stations are doing that now, just to refrain from increase in expense/salary for the title.
Re: WEYI hubbing weather from WWMT?
I’m guessing that Erik is getting off this sinking ship.
It’s bad enough that the weekday morning weather is already from WWMT. I’ve also seen the crew from WPBN from Traverse City fill in. Sinclair has completely screwed the pooch with NBC25 and FOX66.

Damn shame, really. Sinclair made it look quite promising when it bought the station 10 years ago.

They're still better off than NBC 24 in Toledo, which doesn't even HAVE a local newscast anymore. They just run The National Desk.
I get the feeling anyone can be a meteorologist for a Sinclair station anyway. All you have to do is deny the science and blame the LGBTQ+ community for any bad weather that pops up.

I still remember at least a couple of instances last year in which the weather girls mentioned that they would be part of the Veritas Foundation expose on the news media. No serious meteorologist would pull any crap like that.ChrisWL1980 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 6:14 pmI get the feeling anyone can be a meteorologist for a Sinclair station anyway. It happened to a meteorologist on WWJ TV two years ago, and when the clip went viral, the station fired her.rugratsonline wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 10:25 pmI still remember at least a couple of instances last year in which the weather girls mentioned that they would be part of the Veritas Foundation expose on the news media.
