TV 8 weather/traffic

Post by Feature/writer » Tue Mar 26, 2024 7:36 am

It still feels awkward to see the late afternoon Storm Team TV 8 meteorologists having to tag their weather reports by also doing the traffic. (at least I think they stop the traffic updates at 5:20pm).....

I am rarely in a space to view those newscasts, doesn't or didn't Meghan Bunchman do the traffic for a spell? As the funding wells dry up, you see more and more double barreled delivery, Robb Westaby has the predawn patrol on Fox 17 before doing traffic for the commute.

After seeing the meteorologists handle those afternoon traffic reports, I'd have to say they all do an excellent job with a smooth delivery.
Better than anything I ever saw Meghan Bunchman or Tom Hillen ever do.

I've never understood traffic reports on television. On the radio yes, but how many people have televisions in their car??

Morning traffic reports on TV make sense given you are probably still home and can learn of any snags that may impact the drive to work.

Afternoon reports I do agree with you on however.

Not everyone works a 9-5. Afternoon traffic reports are helpful for second-shifters.

And how many people are watching the news at work before they go home?

Unless there’s a highway that’s shut down due to a crash, snow that is making the commute slower, or major construction project, traffic reports make no sense. Most people rely on real time traffic apps like Waze if they want road updates.
