Post by uncleducky72 » Mon Jan 08, 2024 12:31 pm

Kirk Mason returned from a heart attack that he had last month. to find that his morning co-host left on December 22,2023. Sorry I do not recall her name. She was on WWMT for 1.5 years.

Mokay left long time ago and she went from mornings to evenings. They had a new female anchor. She was only their for a year and a half.

I'm surprised there's anyone still IN that building.

News Director Karin Movesian strikes again… she’s now able to drive staff out of 2 stations (WWMT and WEYI/WSMH) at the same time. Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo used to be a destination market with talent who stayed. Now with station owners like Sinclair, Nexstar, Scripps, and Tegna this market is just like everyplace else… run as cheaply as possible with people getting out of the business.

Notice the past 2 Saturdays the news at 6pm and 11p that the anchor is doing the news from another station. They have the weatherperson and sports in house. Then on Sunday they have Jessica Harthorn.

How is the Live, Local News?
WWMT went to crap the past 2 years. and its starting to show. Wish the Grand Rapids stations (WOOD or WZZM) would pick up on his this and start doing more stories for the county's south of Kent County. Or bring back a separate news for WOTV station to cover what WWMT covers. WOOD TV has enough reporters to cover this area if they went back to the news on WOTV.

ARC West Michigan doesn't do a 10PM news on Sat it is Full Measure at 10PM. I think they should just put WOW Women's Of Wrestling at 10PM in my opinion.

It really has become quite an embarrassment there at WWMT. Andy Pepper does a sports segment once or twice a week and it's rarely local. Most of the stories they air are borrowed national segments or borrowed from other parts of the state. I swear the couple of reporters they DO have just come down from the local high school. Local news dying is not a good thing.

WZZM airs more stories and publishes more stories online from Allegan, Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties today than I can ever recall. Such stories will never comprise a large portion of their newscast nor should they.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before on here, but I laugh every time I see the "You're watching Newschannel 3 with...." bumper and they get to Andy Pepper. They give him credit in the bumper every day, but if he's on more than twice a week, it's a miracle.

They have found their replacement.

Julie Williams will make the trek back up to Michigan after 3 years at WSIL in Southern Illinois. Her fiance Eric is also joining the station as an Executive Producer.

WWMT ND Karin and GM Fred don’t give 2 poops about sports. Wouldn’t be surprised—like in other Sinclair markets— they just do away with a daily sports segment. It would be a mistake. But like everything else Sinclair does, it’s about saving those Benjamins!

Is Ms. JennerJohn WWMT's only dedicated field-assigned reporter at this point? Or does she also do some anchoring?
