Whoever does the voiceovers on 105.3 Hot FM is fucking awful. A puker who should've been left in the 90s.
The VO work screams the elderly are in charge. Dump the Lori Vennis strategy. It hasn't worked in the past few years, why keep it after she's been canned twice by the company?
The sh*tcanned Cume-less programming wunderkind is the new PD at WNDV in South Bend. Wanna bet that station will take a dump soon?

Great news for Sunny 101.5 and for Live 99.9.

I feel bad for the listeners of U93, a station with a great history.

U93 is very similar to KFR, it's heritage makes it pretty much bulletproof in the ratings. It's always top two with B100.

I don't think even the new lady can screw that up.

I am surprised that Big Perm hasn't taken over as PD though, he seems to have the market well understood and is an excellent air talent.

Your points are reasonable, but I think people felt the same way about 107.9 in Charlotte until a certain former Grand Rapids PD (now deceased) ran that station almost completely into the ground.

Good afternoon!
A couple of years ago I had mentioned that the format at KDRB in Des Moines would be an option for West Michigan. I know that since I mentioned this they have taken 106.5 in Kalamazoo to a jack FM format. So, would this still be an option for let’s say 96.1? “ you’re riding the BUS down I 96”
From my time living in Des Moines, I did notice that they have a pretty extensive playlist. At the same 200 songs over and over again.

I remember 96.1 briefly having a Jack format about 20 years ago. Not sure if it was under the WVTI or WMAX call letters as the call letters changed about this same time. And when I say briefly had the format, we are talking maybe six months.

It was called Max FM. The format lasted a couple years before shifting to a 90s heavy format.

Per Wikipedia (and this relates to my memory/experiences as well...)

"On October 18, 2005, the station flipped to a Jack FM clone called "MAX-FM". It gained the call sign of WMAX from another Clear Channel operation in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 16, 2005. The station initially was programmed with over 1500 unique songs drawing from various pop music genres. As time went by, the list was honed down to less than 600 songs and the music was more focused on the 1980-early 2000s time period. After a rather respectable ratings showing, the ratings heavily slid by early 2007.

On March 19, 2007, the station retooled itself into a Modern AC-leaning Hot AC presentation, known as "The NEW MAX-FM", which lasted until January 31, 2008.

On January 31, 2008 at 3 PM, after the song Closing Time by Semisonic, the station dropped the Hot AC format and began stunting with the sounds of a ticking clock interspersed with liners that were played every two or three minutes..." [and then it became Radio X (a AAA-leaning modern rocker) for a year and a half...]

I agree that something like MAX-FM again (especially with a 1500-song playlist) would be great in GR and a better use of the 96.1 signal. But, we can only dream...
