The Point Show on Wood

Post by TeleCine » Sun Jun 04, 2023 5:19 pm

Can someone tell me what is point of the To The Point show on TV-8? I just watched a bit of it. It was a half hr of people talking about the state budget and not even the final budget just what may happen. I mean it was like cable access.

It's all about the $$$. Media buyers are sometimes obligated to include news shows in their buys. Cheaper to produce than buying syndicated programs too.

The point is Tom VanHowe used to work for a local republican elected official and uses that show to lob softball to republican guests to promote the rebublican agenda

The show is hosted by Rick Albin, not VanHowe.

Meet the local Press this show is not. I do not remember ever hearing a statement challenged or a public comment made by a politican thrown back at them like the late great Tim Russert would do on Meet The Press.

This is just a weekly puff piece show to run instead of a church service

Rick Albin worked for an elected official in Arkansas as I recall, not Michigan, and that occurred decades ago.

Tim Russert was indeed great, and let's not forget he once worked for Senator Moynihan of New York.

Albin worked as a senior policy advisor for West Michigan's Pete Hoekstra from 2001-2002.

Rick ran for Congress in 1986 (or a Rick Albin did), in Arkansas and lost to BIll Alexander by around 30 points. I recall the factoid in his earlier bios, but time passes.
