I remember the Freeman File on News 8 during the 80s; always enjoyable viewing.

I know he did some radio work in the 90s and 00s, and while I didn't hear him more than a few times in that capacity, he came across as an entertaining broadcaster.

68 years of age is too young to pass away. R.I.P. Mr. Freeman.

I too remember The Freeman File. He often picked on Suzanne Geha. He later was on WGVU-FM but was eventually let go. I remember a GR Press article quoting Bill about it and he felt that his liberal leanings clashed with the West Michigan Conservative mindset.

Eventually he pastored Interfaith Congregation, a church that met at the Holland 7 cineplex. When Holland City Hall voted against adding gay rights to the city charter in 2011, Freeman protested a few months later by refusing to leave city hall at the close of business hours and was subsequently arrested. He disappeared from the local scene a few years later. I did not realize he had moved out west.

Bill was a bad hire for WGVU.

I worked alongside Bill at WOOD TV in the late 80s and early 90s and then later at WPRR A/FM before he headed to California. He was a good man who cared about those less fortunate in life.

I’m glad I got to see his wife and daughter at his celebration of life.

Obit says he pastored churches out there. No specifics on denominations or cities.
