Dave Benson retires

Post by format this » Thu Nov 24, 2022 12:17 am

His farewell show was this afternoon. Kalamazoo radio will never be the same. Benson is a Kalamazoo radio icon, after spending 33 years in PM drive at 103.3 WKFR, and spending the last two years at 107.7 WRKR, first on mornings with Bobby Guy, then moving to afternoons after Bobby left. 35 years in the same building.

He's an outstanding air talent who I'm sure could've worked in a much larger market for many years had he wanted.

I also recall seeing him help with local telethons "back in the day" when those were an annual tradition at area TV stations.

His departure will leave a significant void in West Michigan radio, and I most certainly wish him an enjoyable retirement!
