Blunder 107.3 earns worst AQH share in brand history

Post by MWmetalhead » Tue Jul 25, 2023 6:25 pm

How fucking awful must a country station be to earn a measley 1.0 share on a 50,000 watt signal in friggin' Michigan?!!! Holy crap.

A nonstop loop of dog farts could probably earn better ratings!

In P25 to 54, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if WTNR's share is higher.

The last country station on a big signal to earn numbers this piss poor was 96.1 in the mid 90s when it was an automated jukebox right before it became the ill-fated Mix 96.

I know 107 MUS at 106.9 was down into the low 1s near the end, but that was a Muskegon-centric station that had to fight B93 and the original Thunder (94.5) for share in the GR market.

Look how rotten Star 105.7 fared in the K'zoo book; that might be an all-time low for them in that market:

Shits 96.5 also seems to be in a heap of trouble.

I fail to see the difference between that and what they're playing currently.

One is more enjoyable listening than the other. 😁

1. 96.1 the Game did even worse (a 0.9 share!)

2. Jethro FM shows up with a 0.7, which is impressive for a daytimer AM with two less-than-optimal translators.

The June ratings had the same six stations in the same order as the May ratings. Therefore I have no comment about
any of the top six except that I thought B-93 might surpass WCSG because of the annual birthday bash going on in June.
Again I'd like to say that most of the modern country hits produced by major label record labels in Nashville, TN really suck.
Having said that I believe that B-93 is enough for those who choose to listen to that music. "Blunder Country" will never get
ahead of B-93 and that's why I'm an advocate of Cumulus flipping it to another format.
Another interesting point is that day time AM WYGR and it's low power repeaters Jethro FM at 94.9 FM and in Lowell at
99.5 FM showed up in the ratings with a .7% share. I know that may not mean much but consider that "Blunder Country"
as a 50,000 watt station got a 1% share. As I said before classic country is one of my choices for a format that Cumulus
could flip it to. If at all possible I'd even try to reclaim the old WPLB call letters that were used and call it the "Country
Giant" like it was when 107.3FM used to be WPLB-FM in Greenville before Bob Goodrich bought it, moved it to G.R. and
flipped it to "Oldies 107.3 FM WODJ". I also think that if it went back to oldies it could do better than the bottom feeder
that it is today. I'd like to have the 50,000 watt FM station with another format because of the market does not support
having a station that tries to copy B-93 with the same music, more voice tracking, and more shows not from G.R.

102.5 fell off the radar in Kzoo after the switch to The Block? Or was that some kind of sampling error?
I wonder how 104.9 is doing in BC.

Great questions. I could be mistaken, but I believe Battle Creek beginning this year no longer has regularly issued ratings books.
