I must ask - wouldn't urban or urban AC have been a better choice given signal limitations?

If we were a rated market area, perhaps. There are a few LPFM non-profit stations in the area that are doing variations of Urban and Urban AC well enough already that I don't think it's necessary.

Right now, your only options for rock stations in the area are our own WIRX, our own WZOC from Plymouth IN as a scratchy rimshot, occasional rimshots of WRKR Kalamazoo and WRBR South Bend. Ever since the Loop in Chicago died, we've had a need for classic rock and AAA.
