Roof Sit 2015

Post by format this » Thu May 14, 2015 11:23 pm

Newschannel 3 just did a segment from the annual Roof Sit at the (under construction) intersection of Milham and Westnedge in Portage. WWMT made no mention of the other media prescence, 103.3 WKFR with its morning show on the roof through the weekend.

This is a good time of year to do a roof sit. The personalities have to rough it out in May's roller-coaster weather.

Note to WGN... bring back Steve Cochran ASAP.

Townsquare (formerly Cumulus) has Roof Sit at the corner of Milham and Westnedge in Portage every year in May. WKFR has owned this for years.

Radio needs to start changing. C'mon a roof sit! Same ol' same ol'. Twofer Tuesdays, Blood Drives, Family Four packs, All Request Lunch Hour etc. Very tired.

Well "text to win $1,000" as a group contest seems as lame as a family 4 pack with even less odds...and the added bonus of spam texts!
Radio can't change. Too late for that. Who will be there to change it? Not me, and not you. We're smarter than that!

Or the one I now hear the most: "register to win"

So, let's get this straight. RADIO should stop backing and helping causes, and stop running contests?
Hmm...must be we have no need of charities in this country, and that NO winners on radio contests actually get excited and like to win.

People STILL love to be on the radio, Causes still need the larger voice that RADIO gives them. General audiences like GOOD conversation be it on talk radio or a local morning show for fun.

Maybe YOU"RE not radio material anymore, but don't start preaching of how radio is outdated. Many stations are still doing fine, have loyal listeners, and can sell advertising. You have NO measurable way of proving radio needs change in the way you imply.

Oh, and there's nothing wrong with registering to win. Doesn't matter, "Register" or "Enter." Either way, people still like to be part of radio giveaways. If they didn't, the giveaways wouldn't exist anymore. NOT EVERY STATION does data-mining and uses it's listeners. Some just provide services because it's the right thing to do to remain current, viable, and important to their audiences.
