Why Wait Till November?
100.5 apparently jumped on Monday to an All-Christmas music format. I heard the tunes playing in a thrift store on Tuesday, and see by 95.7's website that their cluster is acknowledging the "change."
A website review also indicates that Star 105.7 didn't follow suit, yet.
Maybe this is what put the Buzzboard into a tailspin.

I noticed that a new (and hipper) logo appears on WTRV's Facebook page.
Might a significant format change be in store after the holidays?

Re: Why Wait Till November?
I see now by my Facebook page that Star has "jumped" to Christmas music. Based on my previous exposure, albeit a few years distant, these moves were commonly made between Nov. 5-9.
Re: Why Wait Till November?
Back in the good ol' Stan Atkinson days (and compared to now, they were) EZ-now-star would slowly add 1 xmas song per hour or so each week until Turkey day when they'd run the xmas music for about 48 hours thru black Friday. Then back to normal with interspersed xmas songs gradually being added again until the morning of Christmas Eve when they went full-on until midnight on the 26th.
I miss those days...

I'm now hearing 106.5 WVFM has gone all-Christmas, too! Is that indeed true?
If so, I think this might be the first time in years (perhaps ever) that 106.5 WQLR-FM / WVFM has gone 100% Christmas music.

Could 106.5 be flipping formats after the holidays?

Wow. That definitely came out of left field.

I see that logo, and yeah, it doesn't seem as compatible with the sleepy dentist's office music. Not sure what format change could work around here, though, unless they spike it towards classics-based AAA or something.

Re: Why Wait Till November?
With that move, could 106.5 move toward Hot AC or even CHR after Christmas?

WTRV's new logo is virtually identical to the one another "River" (WRVF Toledo) used in the late '90s/early '00s, for what that's worth.

You're absolutely right! Funny thing is, the former OM/PD of WTRV who also programmed WRVF years ago accepted a new job in Baltimore last spring. Maybe they found the logo when digging thru his old files and decided to use it?
As for 106.5, I would expect a typical Bright AC format after the holidays (lots of female pop music like Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Twenty One Pilots, Pink, and Matchbox 20) now that 96.5 is Variety Hits. WKFR is well entrenched in the Hot AC space; most markets can only support 1 Hot AC. Taking 106.5 CHR would be a disaster. Look at 92.9 in Lansing. 106.5 has a great stable of air talent for AC. They'd be stupid to completely abandon that.

Re: Why Wait Till November?
While I would love for the Kalamazoo market to have a true CHR station, getting closer into competition with WKFR would not work unless Midwest put money into the new station, which we all know they won't do.

Looks like the river is Officially the first station to flip to christmas music this season.
Not something I'm sure GR wants to be known for, but maybe in Frankenmuth!!
