My understanding is that the dues will now be automatically deducted from your paycheck whether you are Union or not; and that you still do not have to join a Union. The Union has to represent you whether you are a dues paying Union member or not.

You are correct with everything you say.
I once had a union rep tell me that when Right to Work laws were being enacted, unions fought FOR the right to represent non union workers. The thinking was unions would show how good of a job they do and woo Right To Workers over.
