For the second time in just over a week, two nasty crashes on I-75 in the greater Flint region after an officer pulled over impaired drivers. Last weeks photo:

And another pull over for an impaired driver last night near Birch Run left an MSP officer dead. That one was a friend of a friend, so I won't post that one.

This risk happens with all traffic stops. And the person who caused this accident was sober... It's a dangerous job, more than 50 troopers have been killed during traffic stops.

Police say a 16-year-old fell asleep while driving a Dodge Durango, drifted onto the right side shoulder and slammed into the patrol car at full speed without braking. The patrol car got pushed into the suspect's vehicle.

And with Birch Run

Investigators say an 81-year-old man driving north on the freeway slammed into two patrol cars and Popp, who was outside his unit.

It's very sad to learn.
