I'll be the first to say there is unequal treatment under the law. That's been the case in this country for centuries.

Last time I checked, the U.S. dollar is significantly stronger than the CDN dollar and fuel per gallon (or litre, if you prefer) is much cheaper here, too, even though energy prices are trending in the wrong direction. There's certainly room for improvement with regard to the U.S. economy, but compared to the vast majority of countries around the world, I'd say our standard of living is pretty darn good.

It’s not really a form of free speech unless the government is involved. The first amendment only applies in those specific instances. A company or individual can tell you to shut up because they don’t like you talking bad about them but the governments hands are tied quite a bit more… people seem to have a misconception that the first amendment applies to things other than your interaction with the government or it doing something about what you are saying.

Hence, my earlier comment about cancel culture. When those doing the "cancelling" are private entities, those private entities are in essence engaging in a form of speech and choosing with whom to associate or dissociate.

Cancel culture isn't something that is practiced solely by the left. The religious right practiced it for decades.

The fact of the matter is that its been abused by both sides. Calling it a "left-wing tactic" really does diminish how frequent the right has practiced it in the past.

The concern here is that the Chinese will use this plant as a way to spy on Camp Grayling, which is where some Taiwanese soldiers are trained.

I don't trust the Chinese and consider anything they are up to as suspect, but when I mapped it, it was about a two-hour drive from the plant to Camp Grayling, so I really don't think that should be a major concern. Seems like more fear-mongering from FOX News.
