New "highly mutated" strain of Covid - first US case in Michigan

Post by bmw » Thu Aug 17, 2023 10:01 pm

I sure hope this ends up being a nothing-burger. Only 4 cases so far worldwide, but one of them is in Michigan.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-covid- ... onitoring/
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday it is tracking a recently discovered COVID-19 strain, BA.2.86, after experts discovered a case of the highly-mutated strain in Michigan.

"Today we are more prepared than ever to detect and respond to changes in the COVID-19 virus. Scientists are working now to understand more about the newly identified lineage in these 4 cases and we will share more information as it becomes available," CDC spokesperson Kathleen Conley said in a statement to CBS News.

It comes after the World Health Organization announced it had classified BA.2.86 as a "variant under monitoring" due to its large number of mutations.

This strain's rapid escalation to the WHO's "variant under monitoring" category is uncommon. Just four cases have been spotted of the variant worldwide. Virus trackers officially designated the strain as BA.2.86 less than a day ago.

There is always an uptick at the end of summer and also the start of winter as well it's a nothing burger and the COVID vaccine is updated every year. I'm not getting the shot as I didn't do it last year, I haven't gotten COVID since it started in 2020.

Oh swell, here we go again. Lets start getting everyone scared so they can mail ballots out to everyone again. Makes it easier to rig an election.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

You should probably turn off the 2000 Mules movie you have on a repeat loop... that mockumetary has been debunked.

Can you give a verified, court-proven case of when mail-in ballots were the cause of a rigged national election in the USA? Not holding my breath on this one! :hat

New York has been surging, but their strain is pretty mild, more like a cold.

Everyone was sent an application for a ballot. You had to turn that in to get a ballot. Lots of people on the right burned their applications or some other such kiddie games.

With blockchain technology, we should have a way of easily managing and auditing votes.

We would be the hard working public servants protecting the vote every day.

Public servants won't cheat for Trump and should not be trusted.

Three years on and after 60 court rulings this is still being debated?

It's because Bryce has 2000 Mules on loop at his house and he still thinks it holds ACTUAL evidence of the StOlEn ElEcTiOn. And don't forget, many here think tRump is the rightful president.

Anybody who relies on the government to “keep them safe” deserves whatever they have coming to them. They still believe masks worked and are willing to give up their rights in the name of “safety.” What a joke. Most of those who got the first shot were smart enough not to get any more.

I eat a non-inflammatory diet and exercise regularly. I practice good hygiene, not because anybody tells me to, but because I choose to.

I’ve never gotten Covid and never have gotten the jab. Never will.
Without medical proof I don’t believe you.
