TC talks about mental illness being a factor. I would suggest that if the publicly posted opinions of an individual local business owner get your panties in so much of a wad that you feel the need to organize a street protest in front of said business owner's place of work, then you are the one with a mental illness. Don't like what she has to say? Don't go there. It's the same solution as saying "change the dial" when you don't like what someone on TV or radio has to say. People for whom that isn't enough - whom feel the need to organize an angry mob and set out to destroy a person - have a couple of screws loose.

Amy is running for Mayor. Having the lgbtq+ vote will ensure her victory. I also believe it is the a way to let the world know that kkristian and Conservative Catholics need not bother visiting here. They should try the Thumb region.

The attack surface for anything posted publicly on SocMed is so vague, large and stupid, I'm surprised anybody posts anything that could be considered negative or controversial on it. Gets really rough when the poster is an 'uninformed individual or company' and doesn't consider the unwritten PC rules that SocMed may foist upon you, depending on the direction the wind is blowing at the time.

Free speech has always come with consequences. She has the right to be socially punished like she has.

But did anybody lift a finger to try to correct or help the woman first? My guess is you folks hit the “socially punish” booth just like all the reporters in Airplane running into the phone booth at once to report the plane story and then the damn thing falls over.

For example, if your response to someone's speech rises to a level of intentionally inflicting emotional distress on that person, you may be civilly liable for damages.

These are different situations. The salon owner never trespassed, start a fight and threatened the property owner like that chronic Abortion activist did. That woman had a history of threatening behavior. The fact that she was shot was God's sign to quit being blasphemous.

If the salon owner is emotionally distressed after losing her vendors, online ranking, position in county party and most of her customers, it's unfortunate but not actionable. Ask Mike Lindell who he should sue for being an idiot.

Mike Lindell is not comparable because he is a much higher-profile figure. The higher profile you are, the higher the threshold for proving things like libel/slander, or in this case, intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The salon owner would have a legal case if she could prove that someone:

1 - acts.
2 - That the act in #1 above constitutes "outrageous conduct"
3 - That the act in #1 above was done purposely or recklessly for the purpose of causing emotional distress so severe that it could be expected to adversely affect mental health, and
4 - That the act in #1 above actually causes the type of distress described above in #3.

I'm not saying this is an easy case to win or that the salon owner even has a case. What I'm saying is that generally speaking, there are limits the amount of "social punishment" you can engage in against someone who had done or said something with which you disagree.
