Mike Shirkey is right!!!

Post by MWmetalhead » Wed Nov 25, 2020 7:29 am

He hit the nail squarely on the head:
“Wayne County didn’t determine the outcome for the presidential race in Michigan. It was Kent County and Oakland County that did,” Shirkey said, referring to the Grand Rapids area and the suburbs north of Detroit. They swung more toward Biden and away from Trump than in 2016.
BINGO.

I think one reason Laura Cox was initially fanning the flames of fraud allegations in Wayne County - Detroit particularly - is it distracted attention from her party's horrendous showing in Oakland County.

County executive - lost by a mile. County prosecutor - lost by a mile. Both congressional seats that flipped blue two years ago - both remain in Dem hands. (Pretty remarkable that the 8th congressional district - which includes Livingston and northern Oakland counties - is held by a Democrat.)

Gary Peters also defeated John James in Oakland County by a sizable margin.

The 8th district also includes most if not all of Lansing and East Lansing, which are dark blue. With Michigan likely to lose a congressional seat in the next round of reapportionment, it'll be interesting to see how the districts are realigned.

Especially with an independent commission doing the drawing...

Lansing and East Lansing combined maybe have 75,000 registered voters. They are indeed dark blue, but the 8th district overall used to be considered a fairly red district.

Oakland County used to be pretty reliably Republican. Not anymore.

My point is this - the GOP performance in Oakland County was unusually weak. Perhaps unprecedented.

Suburban "Soccer mom" women. That was a trend across the entire country. While Trump narrowly won the popular vote among men, he lost it by a wide margin among women. Time to repeal the 19th Amendment :blink

I think Trump should have left all Covid related chatter to Pence. Think he would have won then.

No, he wouldn't. Trump refused to wear a mask which set a bad example. Unfortunately, you have a whole bunch of man babies who still won't wear one.

Masks don’t work. Here’s yet another study stating this:

OK, they have a minimal effect. You’re splitting hairs.

Boy that wasn't much of a difference!
SARS-CoV-2 occurred in 42 participants recommended masks (1.8%) and 53 control participants (2.1%).

One BS study from Denmark early in the pandemic doesn't mean crap.

Wasn’t this the study that was dismissed as flawed?

I believe so, but there have literally been hundreds of studies. Hard to keep track. I was even chosen for one online.

It’s BS to you because you don’t agree with it. You prefer listening to dictators.
