I just want you to know that even though I spent just a couple of years in Ann Arbor, I still have nightmares about it. The last one was a couple of days ago. They are always a little different, but always involve different locations, and feeling trapped and alone. The only good thing about them is when I wake up, I realize that I am not in Ann Arbor. I feel sorry for you that you don't have that option.
Maybe now you'll understand a little better that Ann Arbor is at best not what it's cracked up to be, and at worst a living hell. And why a large percentage of people are unhappy there.

Ann Arbor is the American dream for most people. I know it's not what it was 15 years ago, but it's still tons better than most places in metro Detroit.
