People were getting pissed at me because I turned away people who had bags of cans. They tried to argue that we can take them now. However my store isn't currently accepting bottle returns. I kindly tell them where they can go if they really need to get rid of them like right now. People largely ignored the signage posted at the door stating such.
You may not have to ever accept them. True story:
Bought a bottle of Coke at Best Buy in Taylor. A few days later I was going back in, and took the bottle in with me. They said they don't accept bottle returns. This is a couple years ago. I may of said "But you sell them?" I don't remember. Anyway, he gave me a reason (I don't remember now) why they can sell bottles, but don't have to take them back.

I know by law they have to take them back. I looked it up after I typed this.
According to the document I seen, if they don't accept them, you are to contact the Attorney General.
Even gave a number to call.

Tell the current AG that they called you a homophobic name and she'll get right on addressing the complaint.

My store still isn't accepting bottle returns at this time. Not gonna lie, I like it that way. That said, the stores that are taking returns, are they also allowing the use of reusable bags? My store isn't doing that either. Love the look on people's faces when they are freaking out about all that plastic! :rollin
