I'll be interested to hear what Governor Whitmer has to say about fixing the damn roads. Got PBS on now...

She's making a STRONG case for a recall. Most Michiganders think the state has enough money for road construction. Bonds are not the answer. Where are the workers coming from?

Plan A was stopping her from being elected. Plan B is terminating her governorship.

This is very underwhelming. Just bonds? It's gonna take a lot more than bonds to fix our shitty roads.

It takes brains and brawn to fix our roads. She has neither.

Do we even have the ability to do a recall? I know California can... but Michigan?

She was bragging about welfare rolls. What a dumb thing to say. How about instead giving money away hire more people to fix roads.

Seems like she has money for all kinds of pet projects, but then we need bonds for roads. :red

I would say there is an ability to pull off a recall, but is there a will? The correct place to remove this incompetent failure is at the ballot box in 2022.

Here's the poll results I cited yesterday: https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/ ... 567549002/
Michigan's likely voters ranked roads and bridges as one of the biggest issues facing the state, but a majority said state leaders already have enough money to fix the crumbling infrastructure, according to a new poll.

Nearly half of those polled in the Jan. 14-18 survey said they would be more likely to support an increase to road revenue if the administration of that money was entrusted to local governments rather than state government, according to the poll of 600 likely voters by Glengariff Group for the Detroit Regional Chamber.
Of the 600 individuals polled, nearly 30% said their city or township would be best trusted to spend any new road revenue. Another 30% trusted county government and another 23% trusted state government.
Count me amongst the 70% that don't trust a city or township to spend the money correctly. Christopher Taylor would redirect the money to bike lanes or climate change.

I'll also add, in what world does it make sense, after a decade of responsible debt servicing, to take on MORE debt for the state? Where are the workers coming from, and more importantly, can we trust that the workers will actually use the correct materials?

Actually the Whitmer bonds need nobody’s approval so they are very much a go. Too bad.
