Demond Fernandez joins WDIV-Local 4 News team as anchor, reporter

I've watched Demond up close here at Local4, and he's being set up to fail.

He has no personality. I hate to say it that bluntly, but it's true. Zero charisma, and his smile is forced.

It's a segment of Demond getting to know Detroiters and wanting to tell their stories. Now, that would make sense if Lester Holt came to work here at Local4. It would make total sense to do stories of Lester getting to know the people here and telling their stories, but for a nobody like Demond, it makes no sense. Viewers don't want to see a reporter talk about doing reporting on an area he's not familiar with and told in a New England accent that pronounces neighborhood as nay-bah-hood.

He seems like a really nice person, which makes this even more difficult to post. However, he's being put in a disingenuous situation that viewers will see through.

It’s the whole “So, you’re not from here…” schtick.
