CBS announced it will launch a new “weather unit”: https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/cbs-ne ... 62955/amp/
This comes at a time when CBS has announced significant layoffs across all its divisions.
It feels like this announcement is a cover for potential hubbing of weather at its Ownen and Operated stations, like Detroit.
If I were Ahmad, Kylee, Karen, Troy and Stacey, I’d freshen up those resumes and get a demo reel updated stat.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through May 12 at 7:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Re: CBS Weather Unit
I disagree. They're launching a new network to compete with TWC, Fox Weather and WeatherNation.
This will effectively be a weather version of CBSN.
CBS News has had a content partnership with The Weather Channel, which began shortly after Comcast (NBC Universal) divested the network. That agreement evidently will not be renewed.

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.
Re: CBS Weather Unit
Once again, Sinklair fails in having any factual information in their guesses. Management here was informed that O and O weather departments will be taking over weather for all of the National streaming as The Weather Channel partnership winds down. This is very similar to how FOX O and Os are supplying stories and coverage as needed. Reporters will be doing more of the same for National as well.
Re: CBS Weather Unit
You're surprised Sinklair has bad information?
Re: CBS Weather Unit
Whatever happened to Karen Carter there? Is she doing weather at all?
Re: CBS Weather Unit
Let’s see how well your predictions turn out.
Look at what CBS is doing nationally. If you really think this is about launching a fourth national weather network to compete with the Weather Channel — with the same dismal results as Fox Weather and WeatherNation, then I have an ugly DETROIT sign to sell ya.
If you don’t believe there will be “efficiencies” AKA layoffs down the road, you are delusional. Why have 5+ mets at every CBS O&O when you have the infrastructure to hub it out?
Just don’t tell anyone that you heard it first from Auntie Sinklair first.

I saw her on the air broadcasting live from downtown on Opening Day.
