I used the link to the WXYZ site earlier today, just to read the posting that jmeltonwx alerted us to in this thread.

But now that link is dead. And my quick look on the WXYZ / WMYD website doesn't find a replacement posting.

Could it be that decisions have been made rather quickly that quashed this? Or maybe the posting will be replaced soon with a different start date for the CW programming to be on 20.1?

Stay tuned...

I find it sad that the WKBD that once was… has been reduced to reruns of what appears to be mid 2000’s Dateline.

:-/ sad indeed
I'm surprised that CBS isn't taking more of a chance to run CBS News Detroit on 50 at other times - maybe even something like a 9pm newscast.

I've found the 62 newscasts too boring. I'd rather watch a Big Bang Theory episode for the tenth time on 50.

Indeed, you are correct!

Perhaps CW and WADL are negotiating a carriage agreement?

Remember when See-B.S. Detroit was promising 19 hours of live, local newscasts between OTA and its streaming channel daily? 😂

I'd definitely say they over promised and under delivered by a country mile.

Their O&O station group is a mess.

We have something weird over this way. WLAJ (ABC) and WLNS (CBS) do something of a time share. WLNS runs their news on WLAJ, and WLAJ 53.2 has some kind of alternate CW. Strange stuff.
The insight I can offer on the Lansing market's CW situation:

* It's a single broadcast stream (on RF14) that provides the virtual channels:
6.1 WLNS (CBS affiliate WLNS, as the "guest" on RF14) 1080i HD
53.1 WLAJ (ABC affiliate) 720p HD
53.2 WLAJ (CW programming) 720p HD

* Both licensed stations are basically owned by Nexstar, as WLAJ is officially held by Mission Broadcasting, who has a Shared Services Agreement (SSA) with Nexstar (WLNS's licensed owner) to operate WLAJ.

* WLAJ is actually CW+, since Lansing is a small market size. Northern Michigan's CW seems to also be the CW+ service. Wikipedia article explains it better than what I'd type: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_CW_Plus . This might be why Mega Hertz noted WLAJ 53.2 being different than how CW previously was presented in Detroit, or continues to be in West Michigan (on WWMT 3.2 RF7 as 1080i HD).

Cheers! ~~ Statmanmi
Awesome. Thank you! I tend to pick up more Lansing and the occasional Flint station, coming from Detroit, I'm not used to things like that.

62 is better as a CBS O&O than the early 90s WGPR. Infomercials and bottom of the barrel syndie programming (the last few years of Hee Haw, for example) with only low budget local commercials and a dance show left of the old days when the station served more of a niche.

YouTube TV currently carries the national CW stream as part of its channel lineup in my locale (Metro Detroit). Other streaming providers out there perhaps do so as well.

I called CH-7 news and asked them about the CW network coming to CH-20, they said they are unaware of any move.

The TV listings on WMYD's website says that it will be carrying CW programming starting 11/13

I'm betting the Fri. post on WXYZ's website was made hidden because it came out earlier than the corporate press release.

The same post is back available, with the byline: Posted at 1:38 PM, Nov 03, 2023 and last updated 3:16 PM, Nov 06, 2023 https://www.wxyz.com/news/tv20-detroit- ... ing-nov-13

As lush.rimbaugh provided above, the presser is out. Here it is straight from the headquarters: https://www.nexstar.tv/detroit-wmyd-to- ... 2C%20CA%20(Nov.%206,beginning%20Monday%2C%20Nov.%2013.

Not surprisingly, no mention of WADL. I'll keep watching for FCC filings, with the most current one being a 9/21/2023 Amendment to the Assignment of License regarding intended sale to Mission Broadcasting (as per this forum thread: https://www.mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/view ... =3&t=62711 ).

Hulu TV does not and they don't carry TV 20 either, the future home of The CW. I had YouTube TV and they didn't carry TV 20 either.
