Sad that a great radio station that highlighted POC got knocked off for this. I truly liked the old station. But that’s the power of money in today’s world. Old rich white men drowning out diverse voices.
They had virtually no listeners and no revenue. It made zero business sense.

Except when WWJ is doing transmitter maintenance and is broadcasting at greatly reduced power, it always comes in significantly stronger than 910 at my house both day and night. That's been true for all 7 years I've been here.
Time to get the FIM-41 out and check this out at various locations. Every time I checked on I-75, they were neck and neck near West Branch. When they were both using IBOC, the digital signals of both were lost near Pinconning going North. Might have to do with the actual conductivity very close to the transmitter sites and the resulting short distance path. But then why aren't WMUZ 1200 and WXYT 1270 affected? Why isn't the skywave affected? I've seen both WFDF and WWJ skywave peaks near 10 mV/m near Pellston right before Sunset.

WFDF might be heard on FM soon. So far there are no details regarding which FM station will be sold.

I’m seeing billboards for this as far as Grand Rapids… what’s the listening range for 910?

Unless they plan to have a network of stations, they won't come in very well in Grand Rapids, but better at Night. Dependably at Night in the Straits Area. Probably up Lake Huron to Harrisville, and on I-75 to West Branch during the Day. Unlike the spurious signal reports here from Oakland County, they are heard in those areas quite well.

Maybe they are talking about internet streaming and Alexa.

The article mentions he is looking for FM translators, which makes sense.

The Roar 93.5/99.1 is a gigantic dud, Beasley fails to properly maintain 98.3, and Salem is in a selling mood as it tries to raise cash to stay afloat (they just sold an AM / FM translator combo near Tampa or Lakeland).

Bear in mind 93.5, 98.3 and 99.1 are all translators of HD stations, not AM. FCC permission is required to change the source station to AM, I believe.

101.5 and 92.7 translate AM. Would Salem be willing to part with either without also selling the underlying AM station?

910's daytime signal for me usually craps out in the Lansing area.

I see a translator that would work that you wouldn't expect.

107.9 Detroit, 96.7 Detroit, 105.5 Southfield and 107.1 Royal Oak Twp. all translate AM stations but have terrible coverage. There are also the Relevant Radio translators, but I doubt they'd flip signals they just closed on earlier this year (plus the coverage of those signals on an individual basis stinks).

I cannot see any of the translator owners in Ann Arbor or Flint giving up their signals.

It might be possible for Adell to purchase 1230 WTKG in Grand Rapids. They had a 0.1 in the ratings recently with IHeartRadio as the owner.

You are overlooking the fact iHeart owns WOOD, too. That would never happen in a million years.

There is a ton of overlap between 910's programming and WOOD's programming.

Sounds like he needed to write a script to stay on ….. and yes, I’ve done that to do professional voicemails

or at the old machus red fox........

I got some friends i want you to meet... :P
WFDF should hire you and Mega for morning drive. :smokin I miss the old Machus Red Fox. Andiamo ain't that great... I miss Hogan's too. Used to run into Mitch Albom in the bar.

I'm going to see how an old Monkey Ward's tuner handles the noise floor on AM. Not that there's much left on AM to listen to these days.
Is that an analog tuner? If so, do you get the whistle from the IF harmonic? Is this part of your "noise floor"?

I plugged the Zip Code corresponding to Quarton and Telegraph into the V-Soft Zip Code Utility. I can't figure out why 910 wouldn't come in reliably at the location you specified. At least as reliably as the others you listed. I have checked my location in the same general direction with the Potomac FIM-41, and right before Sunset, when both WWJ and WFDF are 50000 watts, the field strength is virtually the same. There is no whistle on the FIM-41.
WFDF isn't bad on Telegraph. As soon as I enter the subdivision, it's buried in noise. WWJ is loud and clear on full power. At reduced power, it's eaten up by noise.

The Ward's is an old analog tuner. I'll have to put it up on top of the fridge and see how it does. The old 1970ish tuners seem to do better, at least in this environment.

Saw a billboard at 275 and Van Born advertising Glenn Bleck and Clay and Buck, so Adell is spending a few bucks. Still no local advertising on the station that I’ve heard.
