Iheart did a poor job at station launch in reaching out to old 98.7 listeners in playing tunes synonymous with Detroits Wheelz.

After hitting the sweeper " the Legend is Back" they could have played a tune the 98.7 Wheelz was famous for.
The Doc could have helped with that info.

Punched up Wheelzs on the drive home and they were playing Last Chance by Shooting Star.....WOW !!!

Must have been the Docs deep cut.

Got lots of spins on 98.7 back in the day. Now we need 707 I could be good for you for tommorow deep cut and bring back old logo iheart.

Thats a solid tune. Isnt it sad though that the type of songs that they SHOULD be playing consistently are merely what they call "deep cuts"?

"In the Air Tonight" on WIOT? haven't heard that yet. other than the iconic drum solo and Phil's screaming vocals at the end, I thought it was more pop. WXKR has played it too.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I've heard it on IOT, at least before I removed IOT from my car's presets 4-5 years ago. And I know 101.5 the River and WRQN play it as well. Knowing Toledo radio, there's a chance 3 stations have played it at the same time at one point lol

I was in.their broadcast area today for work and tuned in. OMG - their music doesn’t entirely fit their ads on Bally Sports Detroit where they say they’re “classic rock that rocks”. Heard a deep cut tune that Anne Carlini played from an Aerosmith album from the 70’s. Later heard a tune from Jimi Hendrix. WHY???

Completely cut the from the 60’s and 70’s, cut down on the burnt to the crisp 80’s stuff, throw in deeper 80’s stuff that the original WHEELZ had, and concentrate more on the 90’s and 2K rock. It would sound better than what they’re playing now
