WWJ distorted audio

WWJ sounds very distorted at times. At first I thought it was the old Sears kitchen portable radio, but it sounds almost as shitty in my truck. Something is definitely off a few clicks.

It does seem louder than usual. I've heard worse, but I agree the audio chain doesn't sound as clean as usual.

When listening on a narrowband receiver, the highs don't distort nearly as noticeably as WJR.

I've voiced complaints about 'J's audio in past months.
The console mike usually (to me) sounds very fringe-y and quantized, like it's been through too many sample rate conversions; often sounds like early ISDN. The non-live spots and feeds often sound a lot better and cleaner than the live host.

I usually listen to 97.1 HD2 to hear WWJ in the car, and when listening by that method, I definitely hear is ISDN-like sound to which you refer.

Sure beats listening to WWJ on AM, though, in the car.

There is definitely distortion on AM 950. Jackie's audio from the studio sounded terrible just now.

Although WWJ don't sound distorted to my (probably tin) ears, the lead in sound for traffic and weather always sounds like crap to me.
