My favorite communicator ever, I found him late nights after tigers games, latched hold and followed him ever after. Came up with a recording system to catch his shows when his time slot didn't work with mine.

He could do a show on grass growing and make it interesting and educational.

He suffered no fools in his interview segments.

I am heartbroken.

His April Fools Day shows were great. He pulled you into the interview so well, that you'd forget what day it was. Fooled me several times.

David's monthly movie trivia contests were always something to look forward to. And, as you would expect from David, mostly very challenging. I would pick out the lowest hanging fruit & won several times. To circumvent his rule limiting how often you could win, I would feed family & friends with the answers to the easiest of the lot. Forgive me, David. Lots of complimentary dinners on that segment.

So did I. He had an actress friend who was his accomplice.

Mr. Newman's radio career ended far too soon. R.I.P.
Agreed! He was definitely one of a kind!

Have there been any news articles about his death? I'm hoping that feature writer Neil Rubin of the Free Press writes something.

Unfortunately, the people running the papers are so far removed from knowing about David Newman and his effect on his listeners.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

He looks EXACTLY like I thought he would!

I still haven't forgotten about when David did a segment about borish behavior and recounted the then current news cycle air rage incident of the infamous airline passenger Gerard Finneran. Of course, David treated the matter in a professional manner for the most part. However, he did have a very dry sense of humor and could be sarcastic when necessary. To this day it is one of the funniest segments I ever heard on radio and David Newman was very much the reason.
