Weather reporting

The air sucks. I haven't seen anything from the "big 3" stations in the market talking about the air quality. I have only seen stories and coverage from CBS.

You must be missing it. I've seen discussions on at least 2 and 4. I haven't watched the weather on 7 much recently, but Rexroth was talking about it the other day.

Agreed. I've seen multiple local weathercasts discussing the wildfire smoke plumes and the associated air quality alerts. Two weathercasts I saw on 4 and 7 even showed an animated forecast graphic regarding smoke plume movement.

Not sure what they're watching but it's been covered on all the stations. I will say that CBS has had more on air quality on its own. They've been pushing owning their own sensor.

I agree with those who say it's being covered well by the locals. Has anyone been smelling the smoke? Last few days, it smells like someone is burning wood. Even in the morning. Maybe it's just me.

I've noticed the smell of burning timber on three different occasions over the past few weeks. Indeed, it seems most pronounced in the morning and early evening, and each time I noticed the odor, there was a noticeable layer of smoke in the sky.

West Michigan they have talked about the haze in the sky I don't think I have smelled the smoke thou. Seeing NYC yesterday with that orange glow looked like it was the end of the world from the movies very eerie looking.

Using a totally unscientific method, I believe the smoke is clearing. I had to wear shades while driving into the sun this morning.

Channel 7 covers it every 10 minutes with graphics during their morning show on 7 and TV 20.

Loco 4 just showed an inaccurate map of past 24 hour rainfall totals.

Most areas received more than a few hundredths of an inch, in contrast to what Loco 4 showed on screen.

ACTUAL totals include 0.19 at Pontiac and 0.32 at DTW.

0.32 is great news.. I live maybe 3 or 4 miles from there. Hopefully it was similar.

I'll also say, in my opinion, the chances of reaching 70 degrees today are pretty low.

I think the models are greatly overdoing the amount of clearing that'll take place. I think many areas will top out in the low to mid 60s, and temps will probably hang in the 50s until early afternoon.

A low overcast shrouded much of WI and northern IL yesterday, where temps only reached the low and mid 50s in the afternoon!

High temp in my locale has been 65 so far. Have already dropped a degree. Sky has been mostly cloudy to overcast nearly the entire day. I did pretty well with my forecast. It is 61 in Ann Arbor and 62 in Flint right now.

Many outlets called for clearing skies by mid afternoon and highs near 70.
