Per usual, CSX comes in first place and DRQ has a 2.1 share.

Great job, 106.7 Fake Wheels!!! You're only trailing your competition by five full shares.

I still ask...how fucking embarrassing is it to get beaten by public radio stations and streams? 🤣

I fucking love it!
The slide continues for WLLZ. Maybe spin "Jack and Diane" one more time.
How about a playlist with just kick ass rock and roll tunes from the 80's and 90's and a few 2000's that everyone in Detroit has NOT heard a million times?
As per tradition:
Fuck you WLLZ and all of the decision makers there.

with AM no longer being offered in cars it's only a matter of time before WWJ/WJR move to FM
seems like they would both do better than WDRQ/WDZH

So I see that 97.1 comes in at #2, .1 behind leader WCSX’s 7.4. I also see that 97.1 streaming garnered a 2.1 share. Should 97.1 be considered the #1 station this market? By the way, that 2.1 streaming number is far and away the best streaming score I could see after scanning through the other markets listed on the linked Nielsen page. The best of those were a couple at 0.9.

I wonder if some of that streaming share is due to the MLB.tv app using 97.1 as their source for audio subscription streaming for the Detroit Tigers broadcasts? If they count that as "technically" streaming their feed...

88.7 can’t compete with 95.9 Windsor a country station. Both 88.7 did better as 89X on the Canadian side and 93.9 did better on the Canadian side as The River. Maybe bring back 89X as Alt 88-7 Windsor-Detroit’s alternative rock and put WWJ on 98.7 and WJR on 93.1Fm. And put Country on 93.9 FM

Couldn't care less what the cadian stations do. They don't market to this side of the border anymore.

Majik, you are correct, and I do indeed consider The Ticket to be the number one rated radio brand in the market.

That may be the case, however, other sports stations around the country must be in the same situation but they fail to draw what 97.1 streaming gets. It certainly can’t be because our local 9/10 is such a great product. I think it may be that because so many Michigan residents have left the state over the years and still have an interest in Detroit teams that they get on the stream to keep up.

What I see as the highlights of the April ratings in the Detroit area are the following things that I feel should be mentioned.
First of all the classic rock station WCSX is number one once again and with a 7.5% share. Their competition WLLZ dropped
down to a 2.2% share. I had the idea that they should go classic hard rock as their TV commercials suggest and another
man had suggested that they just be "next generation" with only 80's and 90's classic rock. Either of these suggestions
would at the very least make WLLZ sound better than just the general I-Heart classic rock playlist that doesn't offer any
different songs than what WCSX plays and is used as a generic classic rock playlist not made specifically for Detroit. I
also noticed that WCSX is the only music station that did better than the sports format on "The Ticket" that had a 7.4%
share. As far as I'm concerned the I-Heart stations that came in 3 and 4 both WKQI and WNIC were expected to rank
high with Top 40 CHR and Adult Contemporary formats. Those are formats I personally can do without but I-Heart
does do them well.
The rest of my post is devoted to Audacy in the last ratings. Anyone who follows the Detroit ratings knows that
Audacy is successful with sports on "The Ticket" and classic hits on WOMC. What really stands out with Audacy is
that their country station WYCD came in number 5 with a 6.1% share. I don't remember the last time when a country
station in Detroit made it in the top 5. The other thing that stands out about Audacy is that all news WWJ dropped
down to number 12 with only a 4.1% share. I agree with all of the previous posts that Audacy ought to flip 98.7 FM
to an all news simulcast with WWJ. If that were to happen making WWJ-FM a simulcast with WWJ-AM then nobody
would have to turn their radios to AM for traffic, weather, and news. Although I don't live in the Detroit area when I'm
driving to the Detroit area and crossing into Livingston County I always put my radio on WWJ-AM 950 so that I can
hear the traffic reports most of all. I really think Audacy should do the FM simulcast as soon as possible.

When I am out-of-state, I definitely use the MLB.tv app to stream the Tigers games. I also listen to other Michigan stations via TuneIn, as some habits die hard, and I am addicted to my favorites here. :rollin

Demo rankers - WKQI still going very strong, with WRIF, WXYT-F, WYCD and WNIC also posting impressive showings. WMGC also regained some of the ground it previously lost.

Bear in mind that if streaming shares were bundled with FM shares, WXYT-F would almost certainly be #1 in both 25-54 and 18-49.
