Channel 7 quietly launches 24/7 streaming service

Post by MWmetalhead » Sat Aug 20, 2022 8:54 pm

Found it by chance on the Samsung TV Plus service. It's right next door to WeatherNation. Most programming consists of channel 7 and channel 20's live newscasts and replays thereof.

I know most of the CBS O&O streaming services are available on PlutoTV. I am unsure if WXYZ has a presence there.

I saw it on Tubi, which I believe is owned by Fox? All of the Fox O&Os are on there.

Does this include Fox 26 in Houston? If so, I am adding Tubi. Love that station.

They/them, non-binary and proud.

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

It looks like other local stations are on there, but based on location.

They have been advertising this for months, maybe since January. They even tell you multiple times during the news to watch the streaming service.
They sometimes replay the local news, but when I watched they were playing some ABC health report for 30 minutes. This was a while ago, so maybe they stopped with those.

Yes, access to local channels is restricted by IP address, so nothing outside of your home market will be available, unless you wanted to set up a VPN service, which is easy on a computer, but not so much when using any of the popular hardware. Instructions on how to do it are easily located with a google search.

Other services like PlutoTV and Tubi have stations from different markets available nationwide.

Just got an email earlier stating PlutoTV will be adding a few local channels from select markets such as WSB in Atlanta, and Seattle's KIRO 7. I'm thinking that eventually CBS will be streaming all of their O&Os and affiliates over PlutoTV and slowing abandoning terrestrial television ...
