Alice Cooper and WOMC

Post by Deleted User 15840 » Wed Aug 10, 2022 11:25 am

I’ve been listening to 104.3 a lot in the last month and have not heard any Alice Cooper on that station. Is there a reason why? Alice is part of the Detroit music scene, WOMC plays Seger, Eagles and Kid Rock but no Alice. Why Audacy won’t you play Alice Cooper on WOMC?

Alice Cooper product does not research well with the core target demographic that hyper targets most males and females between the ages of 25 and 54 that live 2-6 miles east of Allen Park and ten miles south of Canton.

I mean, um...none of his songs are featured on the list of 150 songs allowed to be played on FM radio.

Well, since the only decade anyone can be arsed to worry about is the 80s...

The 80s were a rough time for Alice Cooper. The only true top 40 hits he had were 1980's "Clones (We're All)", which I think tickled #40 on the charts, and the aforementioned "Poison".

However, Alice is not only a 70s artist, he is also a "deep cut" artist. By that I mean, he has a number of recognizable songs that would be considered deep cuts now (some even were 20 years ago). Ballad of Dwight Fry, Muscle of Love, Welcome to my Nightmare, all well known, but Goddamnit...

"Mamaaaaaaaa ooooooohoooohhhh I don't wanna die"

*click*

"Scaramoosh scaramoosh can you do the fandango"

*click*

Off.

Forgetting about WOMC for the moment... A better question would be, why WLLZ isn't playing "Billion Dollar Babies"...great tune, with Donovan on backup vocals, and it fits.

Personally, I would dump all of the overplayed, repetitive hard rock on WOMC. The other day, WOMC, WCSX, and WLLZ were all playing Bon Jovi at the same time. :x WOMC's "rock, pop, and soul" presentation was much better, and made the station sound unique to Detroit. Directives from the suits at Lunacy ruined all of that.

Going back to the very early 80's, I can't imagine WLLZ, WRIF, WABX, and W4 all playing Journey or Foreigner (for example) at the same time.

“I Never Cry” and “You And Me” should be on WOMC’s playlist. Both songs fit the demographic for that station. This is typical for Audacy to actually screw up a once great radio station, By the way the Audacy app is terrible, the app quits and is formatted poorly. I uninstalled it and replaced it by Global Player from the U.K. a much better app. The selection of stations are better and the app is simple to use.

THIS.
But Roberts wants to be WCSX, so I don't see it changing.

School's Out still gets the occasional play. What's weird is hearing it in the middle of March 😆

Why? In an earlier post you stated they should play "Poison" so why would "I Never Cry " and "You And I " not fit in the format?

Because Poison is that cheesy 80s butt rock that's all over the place. I Never Cry and You & Me are that slow ballad sound that would have worked 15-20 years ago in the format.
