WRIF's audio processing (did sound) deplorably terrible!

Post by MWmetalhead » Tue May 17, 2022 6:56 pm

Which overpaid goon is in charge of processor settings in that building?

The music literally sounds like it is being piped through a cheap outdoor loudspeaker. The kind one might see at a 1980s era Kmart garden center. Zero sound stage effect. Zero dynamic range. Rhythm sections sound terrible. Vocals sound terrible. Makes good stereo equipment sound like shit.

(Edit - processing was fixed on or about May 19. It sounds much, much better now! It now sounds better than it has in many years!)

(Edit # 2 - on or about the morning of May 28, it went downhill again. Doesn't sound as shitty as it did on the day this first post was made but still sounds subpar nonetheless.)

Tuned in a little while ago, and the processing sounds noticeably better today.

Rhythm no longer sounds muddled and distorted. Bass response is decent. Vocals are no longer trampled. Dynamic range is actually present now.

If someone actually modified the settings - I sincerely say "thank you!"

They added something back to the rack or turned some dials overnight or early this morning.

Bass sounds muted again in any and all songs with heavy rhythm sections.

Audio sounds sped up and lossy.

The sound of the station earlier in the week was nearly perfect. Why couldn't they just let it be? Although the audio isn't as piss poor sounding right now as ten or twelve days ago, it does sound mediocre yet again.

Audio still sounds mediocre.

WGRD in Grand Rapids sounds so much better it ain't funny.

WGRD's audio is nearly CD quality. WRIF's sounds like something from a haphazardly engineered pirate station.

Is WRIF ever going to get a decent sounding digital copy of "Smooth Criminal" by Alien Ant Farm? Every time they play that song, it sounds like they are playing an mp3 stream encoded at 16 Mbps.
