WLLZ

Post by Deleted User 15773 » Sun Mar 20, 2022 2:54 pm

This station sounds dreadful and stale. All essentially they did was, revive a name that no one under the age 40 remembers and revert to a format that has been attempted 2 other times, only to lead to failure. I believe there was a bit of a nostalgia burn at first but it seems it's withered like a daffodil after the falls first frost. It's time to give this format up on the 106.7 signal at long last.

Ive felt that way since the beginning. A stale playlist, corporate decisions and ridiculous transitions. Throw in healthy doses of the most overplayed songs in rock history and we get WLLZ.
Zero creativity. Zero local flavor. I'm happy their ratings have consistently been weak because thats what they deserve.
The format can work with the right people in charge.

They screwed up by not putting Trudi Daniels in mornings. She is wasted in middays.

Station should have an 80s / 70s / early 90s focus with deeper album cuts on a more frequent basis, with an occasional compatible song from the 00s or later. Station also needs an actual morning SHOW, not just a DJ front and back selling music in voicetracked form.

What do you put there? This is one of if not the most successful format since W4 Country. That’s sad if you think about it.

The station is a joke. Nothing like reviving a classic radio station with no meat behind it. Time to bring back cozy fm

It's been in the low 2's as of late, I think the nostalgia burn has kind of worn off. Hmm? this may sound off base but I wouldn't mind seeing a 60s and 70s oldies format. A variety hits format similar to what the second incarnation of the short lived " D" was, would be quite nice.

iHM is programming 60s and 70s oldies on 101.3 in Grand Rapids. Station sounds decent. Not sure how old their audience skews, though.

I'd love to see a return to Variety Hits personally.

Recently and I'm sure your aware, 107.5fm in Lima Ohio recently changed to that type of format. Varity hits is sorely lacking in The Motor City.

Let's stop sending 50,000 watt signals into the air that no one listens to. Cell phone signals might improve.

I see nothing wrong here.

If we're talking shoulda coulda wouldas- Gregg Henson told them years ago to put WDFN on 106.7 long before 97.1 was all-talk, let alone sports.

Not everyone spends their lives on their phone endlessly. There is life outside your cellphone. Secondly, we don't need any more robotic CHR stations that sound the same or Hip Hop and R&B. Almost every station sounds exactly the same! If you're familiar with Michigan radio you know that as you drive away from Detroit Metro you got a dozen country stations too. I think all people want to listen to are the same WJLB or WKQI type stations. Boring!

Just a thought ; 106.7 WLLZ could keep the Wheelz name and move to a Rock leaning Classic Hits playlist of mostly 90's music with some 80's and 2000's thrown in.

If they stay with what they have right now their ratings will not recover. The recent Detroit PPM list shows how most of the FM's are up from last Fall, but WLLZ was not one of them.

No matter how cool I thought it was to have WLLZ back on the air, even at a different frequency, there was always this gnawing in the back of my mind that kept saying "It's iHeart, dude. That's like expecting a filet mignon from Burger King". It sucks, even though they do throw in the occasional awesome deep cut, but the future just ain't what it used to be.

So here’s the $64 question… would Jack FM work on 106.7?
