Maybe they had to. Supposedly there have been solar flares recently. Might've been affecting reception. In 2017, solar flares blacked out all shortwave signals. It can also cause some signals to become more powerful, so maybe they had interference from another station on 93.1. This is just me trying to sound smart, but someone probably just accidentally pressed the mono button at the station. :lol

OT but since we're talking about mono, why does 97.1 broadcast in stereo? I get the music beds and all that, but 90+% of programming is spoken word.

Stereo carries more audio frequencies that are enjoyable than mono.

As for 93.1, are they WW1 satellite/WW1 internet feed? If so, they maybe need to readjust the router to both left and right channels and press "take." Another cause could be a stereo pilot issue at the TX.

Also, check to make sure the HD is on. If it is, Spinner and the gang might be working on something. If the HD2 is stereo, then 93.1 needs to know.

The only time sun fade is bad for TV and Radio is when a satellite is involved or AM radio, which is normal to get interference with.

93.1, if I'm not mistaken, is local except for Cumulus corporate programming evenings and overnights. They also haven't been in HD for several months.

HD makes even less sense for spoken word programming, if the station has no side channels. A la WUOM - WDET at least carries some music programming.

Mono and stereo channels have exactly the same audio frequency passband, 50Hz to 15KHz. This gets demonstrated during a proof of performance test.

I meant percieved frequencies. Just like the percieved 3dB gain for stereo. Stereo voice actually sounds like it has slight more treble and midrange. Mono sounds like slight more bass.

Country Aircheck reports Broadway Bill is returning to afternoons beginning Friday.

No official word on 93.1's new morning show plans. Will they plug in the team from sister station WKHX Atlanta, which recently entered national syndication? A new local show? Wouldn't shock me if Stephen Clark, Chuck Roberts or Kim Adams are soon heard on 93.1. Might Dave Fuller be moving back to 93.1 from afternoons at WDVD?

The station needs to change a LOT more than just the morning show. The playlist is utter garbage and the imaging voiceovers are even worse.

It's time to flip it fer Chrissakes. We're going on 8 years of this garbage now. Not to mention all of the other country options within range of WDRQ. How many coats of paint are they planning on putting on this turd?

At the very least, tweak into classic country. When the antenna is just right, Duke comes in wonderfully. Throw us a bone.

Hang it up.

By Chuck Roberts do you mean Chuck Edwards from WYCD? If so, I agree, Chuck Edwards would be a great addition. I think a Chuck Edwards/Rene Vital combo would be great. Why not just move Brian "Bubba" Cowan over from Ann Arbor and make Breakfast With Bubba the new morning show? Bubba is clearly capable of handling a major market morning show and is known already by at least a portion of SE Michigan listeners.

Sorry - I did mean Chuck Edwards. Oops. 😁

I agree, too, that Bubba is fully capable of handling mornings on a much larger station.
