Christmas Music on WNIC

Post by Deleted User 15688 » Thu Oct 28, 2021 4:49 pm

Well, will Monday November 1st be the day that Jay Towers flicks the switch to Christmas Music on 100.3 WNIC? What do you think? And will any other station in town compete with WNIC this year for Christmas Music, who would it be? Alt 98.7 or WOMC or some station we would never guess in a million years. Any thoughts.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Pee-Yoo Country 93.1 makes such a move.

I heard an on-air announcement a few days ago stating that they would be making the switch on November 5. Not to say they couldn't do it earlier if someone else goes first.

Too early, IMHO.

To start that early would be gunpowder, treason and plot!

Will ALT 98.7 also flip to wall-to-wall Christmas on Friday, Nov. 5th??? Only "the Audacy Shadow" (Tim Roberts) knows for sure! I'm betting that ALT WILL flip that afternoon!

If that happens, we can only hope for a format change after the Christmas holidays. If so, I'm guessing WDZH could become "Jack 98.7" or "The Wave 98.7" to copy KTWV 94.7 in Los Angeles a Smooth R&B format which is an Audacy station.

Any of which would be better than what it is now.

I'm guessing they will wait until Friday, 11/5. They usually start on a Thursday or Friday.

WOMC usually plays Christmas music after Thanksgiving.

Here's the recent history:
Whenever they start it, it can't be too soon for these people:

The Breeze went Christmas at Midnight on November 1st, 2020. On November 9th at 5pm 98.7 started Alternative. And the station sucked from that point on.

Old, tired and burned out cheap promotion. Embarrassing.

If the iHeart corporate playlist included more than 75 songs, I wouldn't mind it as much.
One thing I give iHeart credit for: that 75-song playlist does not include "The Christmas Shoes" or "Grandma Got Run Over" (or at least didn't in years past). Thank heaven for small mercies.

When I program radio music I never play any Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. WNIC apparently couldn't even
wait for Halloween to flip to all Christmas. That's really pushing Christmas too far and WNIC should be ashamed of that.
