That is my mistake, and I thank you for correcting my error. I must be confusing him with someone else.

I’m thinking that once people see how good Rachelle Graham is (and being incredibly attractive doesn’t hurt) at delivering the news, plus how personable and down to earth Ahmed is in doing the weather, people may change their viewing habits
That's a lot a pressure to put on someone whose experience has been predominantly in small-ish markets. I'm sure she came in for the right price for Paramount and CBS and will have some appeal for folks that consider looks more important than experience. I wish her luck in chasing the dream, I'm just not sure betting your professional career on being noticed at a CBS O&O where Newspath content is valued more than local reporting just like they've done at stations they own across the country. A "passthrough" operation as it were, the kind of place where the air switcher in MC is left on "NET" all of the time.

I wouldn’t underestimate Rachelle. She really is that good. Ahmad as well. I know for a fact that other Detroit stations have been trying to recruit him for years. My guess is CBS had more to offer him than just money. I saw him post about them investing in some meteorology technology he said he pushed for.

Completely agree on both.

Ahmed is going to be noticed quickly by viewers. Thorough, easy going delivery and so down to earth on the air. Absolutely AWESOME meteorologist in forecasting and very missed already in the Flunt / Tri City market. He’d publicly said he wasn’t going to leave up here as he loved the area. Between an obvious raise and major money being spent for this newscast, he obviously changed his mind.

Looks like CBS62 just hired a sports anchor. His name is Ronnie Duncan and he comes from Cleveland. He was at WOIO-TV just last year. Welcome to the team, my friend.

Looks like 62 is committed to covering Detroit with MMJs, good luck with that.

More stations are doing that apparently. It’s the new way of doing things.

Name sounds familiar. Was he on WJRT?

That approach was stated way back at the get-go, not just a "looks like."
They are using the term "Multi Skilled Journalists" to describe the new staff.

www.cbsnews.com/Detroit

Looks like CBS redesigned the websites for all of its stations, including WWJ. They are preparing for the launch of CBS News Detroit, it seems. Btw, they are not fully staffed yet, which is why there’s not a lot of anchors listed. Just the ones announced. I think that will come in a few weeks.

Ah, Ronnie "Slam" Duncan...

I know of another with Northeast Ohio ties heading to CBS62, but I don't know if he's announced yet.

So no Charlie LeDuff, Christy McDonald, Frank Turner, Kevin Deitz, Scott Lewis, Stephen Clark or any local names of stations past?

That would be a big fat no.

I could be mistaken of course. But I think I'm going to agree with Rate.
