I believe the handle was CircleWXYZ. Where did Rate This quote from?
He’s regularly ranting under the same handle at tvnewstalk.net
Thank you kind sir.

I just noticed the new 62 newscast a couple of weeks ago. I guess I’ve been busy watching YouTube which I can see now on my regular TV. My only opinion of it so far is that It’s kind of generic.

They are making strides, on air product is good. But ratings are dismal so far.

Just how dismal is dismal, if ya don't mind sharing? Thanks in advance.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say less than a 1.0 rating in total HH.

I agree regarding the awkwardness. The narrowness of that room makes it anti-photogenic. I wonder what is on the other side of the wall where the weathercast monitor is mounted? That wall, ideally, should not be there. The space would look much more open without it.
Hi MW and All,

If anyone from this board is able to make plans for a field trip tomorrow evening (Tues., 4/18), supposedly even non-members of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Detroit Section can join the visit to the WWJ-TV/WKBD-TV studios, per this posting I came across:

https://www.michiganmedia.com/2023/04/1 ... v-wkbd-tv/

Too bad it's short notice. Although I likely wouldn't have made the drive over from West Michigan on a weeknight even if I knew further ahead.

Cheers! ~~ Statmanmi

I see a very young Anu Prakash in one of those old photos. I miss her and want her back on TV, if they didn't open the checkbook and make Anu a serious offer then they aren't serious about competing.
What is she doing now? Never mind if she prefers it to be private.
Check out Anu's Instagram (anuprakashtv) for an update. Best wishes to her.

Are they ever going to launch the weekend newscasts?

Good question. My guess is they've not done so yet because they don't want to hire additional staff and lose money. I suspect the ratings for the weekday newscasts are abysmal.

No they aren’t. You just have to believe… you people are so negative about the great product they are putting out!

Did I do the bizarre fanboy thing right?

I suspect their ratings are lower than 20’s.

Ratings have been steadily climbing. Of course still low, however there has been no decline.
The noon show is already the #1 noon show in the market as well.

Having TPIR as a lead-in helps. :)

Being #1 in any daypart is nonetheless impressive for an upstart news department.

It is… I’m surprised it’s beating 7 in that case… the noon for a long time was their most competitive show.

Back in the day 7 would have 5 live shots in the noon and 2 full time anchors. Now it has the bare minimum of resources dedicated to it and a revolving door of anchors pressed into doing it in addition to their normal duties.

How are things going at 62? Haven't heard much in a while. I'm assuming all is well? Been a little bit since I last tuned in. That "studio" is driving me nuts. And no green screen for weather.

I do watch some of their 6a newscast on occasion; actually saw a really cool story this morning. It was about a guy (might've been two guys now that I'm thinking about this more) who uses a big magnet on a rope to retrieve debris from the bottom of the Detroit River. The number of handguns he's retrieved is stunning. Also has found complete sets of keys. The reporter gave it a try, and while the story was filming, she retrieved a handgun and a big knife.

The gentleman or gentlemen on whom the story was about has / have even retrieved motorcycles from the river bottom!
