Makes sense. The on air talent will more than likely, be out of market hires, much like that recent hire they made from Flint.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through March 30 at 9:00a ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Is there an official or rumored start date yet for the newscast? Also, do we know the name and branding yet? Is is CBS Detroit News as has been seen in some of the ads? Is it 62 CBS Hyper Local News like they were telling us it was going to be earlier?

Fall debut.
CBS News Detroit is the branding for the streaming service.
CBS 62 News is more than likely the branding for the newscasts.

So everybody's castoffs. Maybe Julie Banovich wants a job again... She was one of the better reporters to vanish in the last 10 years.Editorcj wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 9:20 pmThat and the great resignation has hit newsrooms particularly Fox 2 in the last year. Newsrooms are poaching talent from their competitors to fill the void and adding a new newsroom in town is causing a bidding war on those without contracts.Sounds like CBS62 is picking up talent from the big three.

I think she'd be very capable as lead female anchor.

Not gonna happen. She is very happy doing radio.
TV is also not paying what it used to.
Stations are also looking to bring in younger diverse candidates.
All the reporters will be one man bands too, so dont expect many defections there.

I believe either of those ladies would be a good hire.

Any word on if they are building a new set for this? Hopefully not just using a chroma key like the 10pm news on CW50? Also will any of the anchors on the CW50 news have anything to do with this new venture?

I can answer the first question - they are definitely constructing a full scale news set.

Funny to see an Amyre Makupson (her daughter obviously) working at 62 CBS doing news again.

That is a creepy photo of Ms. Makupson; there wasn't a better pic available?
One of the new hires anchored for Fox 29 in Philly weeknights for the past few years. It is one of FOX's crappier O&O stations, but it's located in a top 5 market, so that experience is certainly nothing to sneeze at.
