Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?
Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?
They said it was their new newsroom. Also, the set looks to be in WKBD’s old newsroom.

You are confusing me… there were clearly a bunch of walls around the studio and not any connection to the newsroom besides a doorway.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 11:22 pm

The new set will be apart of a new newsroom. Clearly their new set will be unique and different from other CBS O&Os. Go to Shaina Humphries Instagram and you will have a clearer view of the new set.Rate This wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 11:28 pmYou are confusing me… there were clearly a bunch of walls around the studio and not any connection to the newsroom besides a doorway.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 11:22 pm

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?
I see an anchor desk inside a smallish newsroom. That's the set? I guess my earlier comments about low budget were right on the money, if that is indeed the case. Not sure I'd even call that a "set.". Looks crappier and smaller than what channel 50 used 25 years ago.
Why do I have the feeling this is going to be a Fox 46 (Charlotte) style dumpster fire at launch?
Perhaps what I'm seeing is a temporary set of sorts until the full fledged set is complete?

I see what you are saying. I would wait and see when they unveil the whole thing. I think CBS pouring a lot into this, because of past mistakes.
As for the desk, I noticed that the network news has the same style. If they are going for a network style set, yikes.
Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?
The actual newsroom doesn't have to be that big because as I understand it, the reporters will work from home and their vehicles and communicate with producers and management via zoom or phone. The reporters will be assigned vehicles that they take home and will be responsible for their MMJ gear thus there is no reason to have a large newsroom. I'm not sure if producers will work remotely or not but it is possible and probable that some will. The pandemic proved the feasibility of remote producers, writers and editors.

New hire at CBS Detroit. He’s anchoring Detroit Now tonight. His name is Terell Bailey. He stated last month.

Received some information. The debut of CBS News Detroit, as well as the rolling out of the new CBS graphics are in January. Apparently, the delays are with corporate. I will try to get more information.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if they'll time the launch to occur on the same day as swearing in of the new Congress? I could also see a launch occurring on MLK Day.
Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?
Possibly! Remember, the launch of CBSN Miami was delayed last year, because of CBS. Since Detroit is a bigger market than Miami, they know that CBS News Detroit has to get running. The launch won’t be in February as it’s a sweeps period. So, it makes since that the launch is December or January at the latest.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 5:14 pmThanks for the info. I also think that CBS is under a lot of pressure to get this up and running, for obvious reasons.

Looks like only evening newscasts initially at 4p, 5p, 6p and 11p.
They evidently aren't sufficiently staffed yet for the other dayparts.
I'll still be surprised if they launch even the evening newscasts before year-end. What other reason would there be for not announcing a date certain?

I think they haven’t been giving a launch date, is because it’s been pushed back to early January.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 3:21 pmLooks like only evening newscasts initially at 4p, 5p, 6p and 11p.

As for the morning newscasts: Been saying this. This is why they are still hiring. I think the debut will be the first week of January at the latest, and morning stuff will be in March or April.

Thanks for posting this. This is why the time slots for the afternoon, evening, and night all have been cleared and Dt. Phil possibly moving to 3pm.
Drew Barrymore will either move to overnights or will be demoted to 50. 25 Words or Less imo, will be demoted to 50 as well.
