I think Smile sold Beasley the 99.1 translator, or is leasing it to them. This must've been part of the deal.
99.1 and the recently upgraded 103.9 broadcast from the same antenna or the same antenna bay. There likely was some collaboration between the two parties on the engineering.
Smile appears to have a similar deal in place with Townsquare in Grand Rapids.
I like the local programming and info found on Smile FM versus K-Love.
