I'm curious as to if anyone here can give me the following info:

Total days of rain, even just a quick shower, since May 1

How much rain we received since May 1, and how it compares to normal

Where this summer ranks as far as rainfall

Where this summer stood as far as temperatures and humidity from June 1-now

Working outside, rain totally destroys my day, so I tend to notice even the smallest amount. Does anyone have that info? Has this not been a funky summer?

West Michigan also said Wed would have the sun out which didn't happen either. The only time they use HRRR is when the storms come in about 24 hours otherwise they use a different model Anthony that works for WXMI Fox17 said that HRRR is only good about 24 hours out.

Am I remembering correctly that on Loco 4's Thursday morning newscast, Brandon Roux was calling for mostly dry conditions, some sunshine, and highs in the 70s today (Friday)? :lol

Andrew Humphrey said it would be mostly sunny this morning.

In my area, it has been overcast the entire morning so far!

He really does suck at forecasting.

The computer models for literally a week straight have consistently been predicting lake-effect clouds for a good part of the day in most of the eastern part of Michigan with maybe some late-day clearing.

Good info; thanks.

Certainly reinforces my assertion that Andrew is a mediocre forecaster.

So, some weather outlets are calling for 50° plus as high on Sunday (NOAA), while some others calling for only 40° or less. It’ll be interesting to see what happens late this weekend.

10day NOAA had Eastern 1/2 above average then a nosedive by Christmas. Hawaii has a Blizzard Warning : this is messed-up

Did we need a High Wind Warning last night? It seems like many outlets such as NOAA, WDIV, Fox 2 we’re predicting 60mph wind gusts. The Weather Channel was a bit more conservative. I’m thinking that a Wind Advisory would have sufficed. Not sure if they were anticipating some of the high winds up in higher levels to be brought down in any rain or thunderstorms last night.

The warning was from 4 AM to noon then extended to 4 PM when the front stalled. They did downgrade it to an advisory around 1 PM. I definitely got strong gusts up to 50 mph.

BKRPDM - good hunch on your part; indeed, I believe the risk for shower / tstorm downdrafts was a factor in the decision.

Weather may have contributed to the violent collision between two semis on eastbound I-94 around 3a this morning near Chelsea. One of the semis overturned as it was entering the freeway.

Like you, the winds here were no big deal last night. I did have one or two gusts around 55 mph around Noon here. The winds have calmed down quite a bit here over the past hour to 90 minutes.

Grand Rapids area had gusts between 60 and 65 mph late last night and early this morning.

Chicagoland, Ft. Wayne, some areas near South Bend and Indianapolis, etc. experienced a fairly widespread severe weather event last night. Wind reports of 60 to 70 mph were fairly common. I think the Great Lakes enabled Michigan to be spared; there is a LOT of cold air coming off that water this time of year. At one point late yesterday afternoon, Monroe was 46 degrees and Toledo Express Airport was 70 degrees.

Is it just because of how weather is hyped lately, or have we had a H*** preponderance of wind events since last fall? If I’d have to guess, I’d think that we’ve had nearly 10….

I heard our area was supposed to get 1-3 inches today. I'm totally not upset that they got it wrong.

No, that was the forecast on Friday night. It changed Saturday night when the warm front pulled slightly north. Flint, Saginaw, and other areas in mid Michigan did get 2-3.
