Average Low: 65
Average High: 84
Average Low: 65
Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
Is it going to take a Pacific hurricane to finally move some of the stagnant jetstream and move the heatwaves out of the NW/SW/Texas and get more normal summer temps with less torrential rain in the Great Lakes? And the rain is so damn isolated in NW OHIO: Lucas County = 2.5", Wood County= 1", Seneca County= 0.0" and Wyandot a tornado warning while you can play golf all day in Sandusky County without an umbrella?
What is the over-riding dynamic in the lower Great Lakes? Blocking High Pressure, stagnant lows with a warm front moving north and south at will, or how is MI/OH colder than Canada half the time?

Hally Vogel's Tuesday forecast for tomorrow sure hasn't aged well! I knew back on Tuesday that her prediction for Friday was complete garbage.
She predicted 84. It might not even reach 74 degrees!

Last week Jay Bershbeck at WTVG forecast 10 days of rain, pretty close, had 9 days.

Tip of the cap to him.
Not surprised to hear some folks in nearby smaller markets are more accurate than the folks on TV in Detroit.

Holy shit. Get over it already.

Feels like Dec with all the cloudy days this past week. Would be good if it wasn't for the humidity being in the upper '70's is how I like the temps with no humidity whatsoever.

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
Woho is pretty much right. Weak directional upper level winds in this part of the country, and blocking ridges well to our west and east, have us kinda stuck in limbo for now.
To BMW, 60s for afternoon maxes are certainly possible today for DET if we get stuck under steady rain and low clouds for a few hours or more. Our high temp for today probably occurred overnight or early morning.
Thumb, Saginaw and perhaps Flint will be milder and will see 70s this afternoon. Basically, the weather I thought SE Michigan would be seeing today back on Tuesday.
Rain won't be as intense as Loco 4 has been touting for past few days. The models have been doing a crappy job with storm intensity since winter. Yesterday's run had a better handle. There will be a sharp cutoff in totals as one heads north of 8 Mile. Heaviest totals will be from near I-94 south toward OH border, where 1 to 2 inches is likely in some areas.

Some decent rotation on radar near Essex, ON. I wonder if Environment Canada will issue a storm warning of some sort. Raining incredibly hard there, too.
Soaking rain shield has crept into southern Oakland and Macomb. Think I'm gonna have to move that heavy rain line up to M59! I'm near 14 Mile and about an inch has fallen here already. Still coming down good, too. Now thinking 2 inch+ totals will be quite common in the immediate Metro.

Yup. Wayne County is a clusterfuck again in terms of freeway flooding. Hopefully there'll be far fewer flooded basements this time.

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
Driving into midtown this morning on 96 and 94, barely able to see ahead through the torrent (and wisely exiting 94 ahead of the M-10 flood area), WWJ weather was telling me "scattered light rain," while WWJ traffic was reporting an ever increasing number of flooded roads.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 2:39 pmYup. The hourly weather observations WWJ reads from Metro Airport are sometimes two hours old. I have noticed this a lot during middays and afternoons in particular. Some of the staff are evidently too lazy to pull up current info from the web.

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV
On Saturday, WTVG had us with warm and no rain in the 10-day forecast.
Then, Sunday night, their Junior Meteorologist is predicting a chance of
rain every freakin day? What's Detroit's on-air guessing for this week?
