I noticed something was wrong about 3 days ago. Seemed to have a louder "hiss" than a typical vacant channel.

This fall, it will have been TEN years since that format has been on. What in the actual fuck... The ratings stink, the music stinks, the billing stinks...

107.5 has always had bad ratings and poor revenue throughout it's whole life. What else is new?

Hard to believe, but WGPR was briefly a consistent top 5 rated station in the late 1970s, eating 1400 WJLB alive.

In the early eighties, Booth (the owners of both 1400 AM WLJB and 97.9 WMZK) flipped the AM and FM operations and quickly got back in the game.

That was like sometime ago but WGPR today, is a bottom dweller.

I guess WGPR would really be a "Top Dweller", and that's a problem.

Most of the stations appealing to the urban market are grouped about 1/3 way up the dial - some listeners don't want to hit the "up" button many times to hear WGPR.

I'd rather have 107.5 be a classic soul format with a heavy emphasis on Motown, as WOMC doesn't play nearly as much of it as they used to.

I'll tune my dial anywhere there's good content.

In the meantime, you may listen to 690 as you make your morning commute.
